In Loving Memory
Neilson "Ross" Kiely
8/28/1979 - 12/21/2009

N. Ross Kiely, 30, of Ferry Rd. Bristol and formerly of Barrington passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2009. Born in Providence he was the son of Neil and Laurie (Reich) Kiely of Bristol and grandson of Esther Kiely of Providence.

A graduate of Barrington High School, Northfield Mount Hermon School and the University of Rhode Island he had diverse interests which included almost any outdoor activity and sport. He was selected team leader on a 110 day Winter Semester in the Rockies program through the National Outdoor Leadership School and awarded Eagle Scout recognition.

His inquisitive nature drew him to assorted passions: woodworking, golf, gardening, surfing, biking, personal fitness, skiing, photography and drums to name a few.

Besides his parents Ross is survived by his brothers Stuart and Patrick, sister-in-law Michea and his new niece Madeline for whom he had a special affection. Because of his caring and gentle nature extended family played a huge role of his life; Karen (Kiely) and Phil Bartlett, Kathy (Kiely) Seifert, Kim Kiely, George and Nancy Reich, Tod Schweizer, Richard Herrmann and 14 cousins.

He is predeceased by his grandparents Ed Kiely and George and Doris Reich, aunts Susan (Reich) Schweizer and Barbara (Reich) Herrmann.

A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Wood St. Bristol on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:00am. Burial will be private.

Because of the love and concern that Ross displayed for a sustainable environment and in local organic farming, contributions in his name may be made to: Farm Fresh Rhode Island, 1005 Main St. #1220, Pawtucket, RI 02860.

I still can’t get that day out of my mind. It was a beautiful Mass in a magnificent church filled to capacity. The church was beautifully decorated for the Holiday celebrating the birth of Christ as the friends and family were celebrating the life of a young man lost. My heart was bleeding for Laurie and Neil as Neil spoke so graciously about love for one another. Reminding us how important it is to say “I love you”. Sitting in the rear, I was able to witness the tears of grief that filled the church that morning. May God hold Ross in the Palm of His Hand.

It has been a tough few weeks to say the least and my heart aches for our entire family - especially Pat, Stu, Ne and Lo. I wont run through a laundry list of what Ross has meant to all of us over the years, but for my part, he was an amazing cousin. In a family of more than a few "wise-asses," he was humble; around people who loved the sound of their own voices, he loved to listen; and as some people pretend to care, Ross actually did. Yes Ross was quite and gentle, but it was not for a lack of substance to convey or courage to espouse - he enjoyed the intimacy of relationships and it is in those relationships that his legacy will live on. As such, I am eternally greatful for a relationship I will charish for the rest of my life...thanks Ross.
